What is a Champagne and Cork Ceremony?

For the last 16 years, Simply Weddings has been making destination weddings in Cayman pretty special. Our local clients think we're pretty special too, so much so that Joy, our main wedding celebrant, will celebrate 4000 weddings performed later this month.

Many of our guests look forward to the Champagne and Cork ceremony, which is done after the bride and groom have been introduced (included in selected packages).

This ceremony, which has its roots in Scotland, has been a feature of Simply Weddings since its earliest days. The three parts of the ceremony include:

1. The opening and pouring of the champagne, traditionally done by the groom

2. The first sip of the first drink you have together as husband and wife

3. As part of the Caymanian wedding tradition, the cork is presented along with a blessing—an unforgettable moment you will always remember.

The Champagne and Cork ceremony not only leaves you with unforgettable memories, but you will have a unique souvenir of your wedding in the Cayman Islands.
